Sheila F. Collicott, Psy.D.

Dr. Collicott is a licensed psychologist, receiving her doctorate in 2000 from the Virginia Consortium Program for Professional Psychology.  She has been with The Pinnacle Center since 2001 and specializes in adult psychotherapy and marriage counseling.


Mercia F. Cummings, M.A.

Ms. Cummings received both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree at Bowie State University.  She completed her studes for licensure at Loyola College in Baltimore.  She is licensed in Maryland and Washington, D.C.  Ms. Cummings provides counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  In her work with clients, she focuses on helping individuals find their genuine selves.  Clients find her counseling approach to be understanding and also being very aware of the client's needs.

Her special interests are in the field of adolescent and children's therapy.  Her theoretical orientation is eclectic; however, she primarily uses Gestalt techniques in working with the whole individual (mind and body).  She is certified to use the PREPARE/ENRICH Program with premarital and married couples.  Topics for couples covered in the PREPARE/ENRICH Program include communication, conflict resolution, family of origin, finances, sexuality, spriritual beliefs, and many more.

In her spare time, Ms. Cummings enjoys spending time with her family, reading, writing, and meditation.


Jennene Daniels, LCSW-C

Ms. Daniels received her Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Chicago in 1976 and has 27 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist.  She is licensed in the states of Maryland and Massachusetss.  Maryland's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene honored Ms. Daniels in 1993 for distinguished mental health services to the community.  She began working at The Pinnacle Center in 1996 where she provides individual, group, and family therapist to children and adults of the surrounding community.

Although experienced in treating a variety of disorders, Ms. Daniels' special interests are in the field of couples' therapy and the effects of trauma on mental health.  Her theoretical orientation is primarily psychodynamic in nature; however, she also uses cognitive behavioral techniques as well.

Ms. Daniels enjoys a blend of the arts and nature and she tries to maintain a good balance between work and her friends and family.


Sonya L. Ford, Ed.D.

Dr. Ford earned her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University in 1990, her Master's Degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1996, and her Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in 2009.  She holds two Certificates of Advanced Graduate Studies from the Johns Hopkins University in Clinical Community Counseling and Teaching in Higher Education.  She is also a National Certified Counselor and a National Certified School Counselor.

Dr. Ford is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the American School Counseling Association, and the Maryland School Counseling Association.  she has been a presenter at a variety of educational workshops on both the local and state levels.

Dr. Ford provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in the community.  Her theoretical orientation is primarily rational emotive behavior therapy, based on the theoretical teachings of the late Dr. Albert Ellis.

Dr. Ford enjoys time with her family and friends, as well as reading Stephen King novels and scrapbooking.


Wade M. Green, Jr., M.A.

Mr. Green is a licensed clinical professional counselor.  He received his Master's Degree from Bowie State University in 2002.  He is currently working on his doctorate in psychology through Argosy University.  Mr. Green joined The Pinnacle Center in 2009.  He specializes in individual, family, and adolescent counseling.  


Stephen R. Herskovitz, LCSW-C

Stephen Herskovitz is a managing member of The Pinnacle Center, where he provides counseling and psychotherapy to adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  In his work, Mr. Herskovitz utilizes a number of approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, solutions focused therapy, and hypnotherapy.  He has special expertise in the area of prosttraumatic stress disorders, anxiety disorders, pain control, and ADHD.

Mr. Herskovitz is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  He received his Master's Degree in Social Work from West Virginia University in 1979.  Mr. Herskovitz has been in private practice on a full-time basis since 1989.  He brings to his practice at The Pinnacle Center prior experience as Director of Social Work at Civista Hospital, La Plata, MD, from 1985 to 1987.


Shannon D. Howard, M.A.

Ms. Howard received her Master's Degree in counseling from Towson State University in 2000 and her undergraduate degree at Frostburg State University in 1997, where she minored in Women's Studies and Philosophy.  She is licensed in the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia as a professional counselor.  Ms. Howard also is a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist and an Adolescent Sex Offender Therapist.  Ms. Howard had been in private practice since 2003.  She received her second Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University and will receive her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in 2010.  Although Ms. Howard works with a variety of mental health diagnoses, her specialiation is with children and adolescents, as well as junenile sex offenders.  Ms. Howard also specializes in the promotion of emotional wellness, age appropriate sex education, and sexual abuse prevention.  She also conducts educational workshops for adolescnets and teens.  Ms. Howard provides individual, group, and family therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults in the community.  Her theoretical orientation is primarily client-centered, rational emotive, and cognitive behavioral.

Ms. Howard especially enjoys times with family and friends, asa well as weekend getaways.


Sandra L. Navarra, M.Ed.

Sandra Navarra is a National Board Certified Counselor with several years of counseling experience as a school counselor in the Prince George's County School System and a clinical counselor at The Pinnacle Center.

Ms. Navarra has a vast amount of experience in treating ADHD, bipolar, and depression, as well as a background in counseling patients who have been diagnosed with HIV and other serious health problems.  She enjoys counseling young children, adolescents, couples, and families.  She has given sesminars on internet safety, cyber-bullying, school individual learning plans, and mentoring programs for peer counselors.

Her school system experience has also provided her with the necessary tools to be an advocate  for parents who are trying to negotiate goals and treatment plans for their children with attention deficits and learning disabilities, as well as children with emotional disturbances.

Currently, Ms. Navarra has appointments available during the week and on weekends.


Marie S. Nazzaro, M.A.

Ms. Nazzaro received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University in 2004 and her undergraduate degree at Park University in 1998, where she minored in Criminal Justice Administration.  Ms. Nazzaro retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1998 as a Communications/Information Management Manager.

She works with a variety of mental health diagnoses.  Her specialization is with children and adolescents, but she also sees adults for a variety of problems.  She promotes emotional wellness and parent involvement in their children's lives.   Ms. Nazzaro provides individual, group, and family therapy.  Her orientation is primarily cognitive behavioral, choice theory, and client-centered.

Ms. Nazzaro especially enjoys time with her family and friends, as well as traveling, reading, and exercise.


Irene C. Posey, M.Ed.

Irene Posey holds a Master’s of Education, Guidance and Counseling Degree from Bowie State University .  She is a National Certified Counselor and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland .  Ms. Posey has a long working history helping children and families as an elementary, middle and high school counselor.  Currently, her educational and counseling experiences are broadened with outreach, community and advocacy programs performed as a Pupil Personnel Worker.  Included in her resume of professional employment is a background working in private industry for a large corporation and varying legal offices. 

Ms. Posey claims a diverse cultural background.  She is first-generation born in the United States with her parents immigrating from Europe and Central America.  The opportunity of growing up in a large family, with a variety of traditions and customs, has provided her a unique perception of the world.

As a counselor, she specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults on an individualized or group basis.  Her clinical orientation is cognitive/behavioral.  Depending on the individual, a variety of techniques can also be employed in treatment, including art, music and play therapy. 

Combined, her professional and personal experiences have given her a broad knowledge base of understanding to draw from when working with clients.  


Charles L. Ruby, Ph.D.

Dr. Ruby received his Ph.D. at Florida State University in 1995 after a career in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a criminal and counterintelligence investigator and forensic psychologist.  He is a member of several professional organizations, to include the American Psychological Association, Maryland Psychological Association, Constructivist Psychology Network, Society for Humanistic Psychology, International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology, and the American College of Forensic Examiners International.

As a counselor, Dr. Ruby works with adults using person-centered and existential approaches.  He tries to help people use their inherent abilities to reorganize and reconstruct their lives.  He questions the idea of "mental illness," and believes the term is a misleading metaphor that creates diseases out of basic human struggles and feelings.  Dr. Ruby recognizes that as humans we all share the difficult challenges of finding meaning, accepting our limitations, connecting with others, and taking responsibility for the ultimate direction of our lives.

Dr. Ruby also conducts child custody evaluations and educational assessments of learning disabilities and attention deficits.

Ms. Thorn is a founding member of The Pinnacle Center, where she provides counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  In her work with clients, she focuses on helping individuals bring out the best in themselves and others.  Clients find her counseling approach to be warm, insightful, and resassuring.

Ms. Thorn recieved her Master's Degree in Counseling from Bowie State University and her undergraduate degree from Knox College, with a double major in French and Education.  Ms. Thorn has been in private pracice since 1993.  Her past work experience includes teaching, school counseling, adult education, and parent education.

Ms. Thorn has been a presenter for numerous community groups, PTA's, local and state professional groups, and national professional associations on a wide range of mental health topics, including parent-child relationships, marriage and family counseling, parent education, conflict resolution, and peer mediation.  Ms. Thorn is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors' Association, the Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors of Maryland, and holds a leadership position in the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology.

Dr. Thorn is a founding member of The Pinnacle Center, where he provides counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  In his work, Dr. Thorn focuses on helping individuals bring out the best in themselves and others.  Clients find his experience, empathy, and perspective to be reassuring and insightful.

Dr. Thorn received his Doctorate in Counseling and Human Development from George Washington University in 1981, his Master's Degree in Counseling from Bowie State University in 1975, and his undergraduate degree in anthropology from Yale University in 1970.  Dr. Thorn has been in private practice on a full time basis since 1991.  He brings to his counseling practice prior experience as a teacher, school counselor, school principal, director of human resources, and an assistant state superintendent of schools.

Dr. Thorn has been a presenter for numerous community groups, PTA's, local and state professional groups, and national professional associations on a wide range of mental health topics, including parent-child relationships, marriage and family counseling, conflict resolution, anger management, and human development.  Dr. Thorn is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors
of Maryland, and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology.


Harriet J. Yevzeroff, Ph.D.

Dr. Yevzeroff has been with the Pinnacle Center since 1993.  She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Rochester, New York, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her Ph.D. from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., having researched the effects of the sense of control and one's self-esteem.  Dr. Yevzeroff is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Maryland Psychological Association, and is on the National Register of Health Service Providers.  She is married and has two children.

At The Pinnacle Center, Dr. Yevzeroff works with adults, older adolescents, and couples in psychotherapy.  She utilizes a cognitive-behavioral approach to psychotherapy, in which clients are taught to recognize the "automatic thoughts" that create distressing emotional reactions, to challenge these thougts so as to determine their validity, and to change and reframe these distressing ideas.  She will teach coping skills, such as relaxation techniques, among others, to provide her clients with immediate and useful tools for dealing with difficult emotions or situations.  Dr. Yevzeroff is direct and active in the psychotherapy process, often giving homework assisgnments in between sessions.
